It was a pretty quiet Friday night yesterday in the National Hockey League, with only eight teams in action across four games.
Still, we were treated to a few highlights.
Here are the ones that stood out.
1. Wings fans are fed up with their team
It's been an extremely difficult start to the season for everyone with the Detroit Red Wings, as no one is happy—neither the players nor the fans.
Dylan Larkin and Simon Edvinsson are on their way out of Detroit after requesting trades, and with three losses in four games this season, fan frustration is only growing.
So much so that last night, fans were chanting “sell the team” loud and clear in the arena at the end of the second period, while the Wings were trailing 5–2.
What NHL player is going to look at this and say, “Yeah, I want to play for the Red Wings”? It's crazy how far this franchise has fallen.

It's a terrible situation for the Wings, and let's just say it's sad to see a team that was once so glorious looking so pitiful today.
It's worth noting that in the Red Wings' 6–3 loss to the Seattle Kraken, defenseman William Wallinder and forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygard both scored their first career NHL goals.

2. Alexis Lafrenière Is Impressing Early in the Season
The New York Rangers are off to a surprising start to the season, having already racked up four wins in six games—a win total matched so far only by the Vegas Golden Knights.
Unfortunately for the Rangers, their star goaltender, Igor Shesterkin, was injured yesterday in the Rangers' 3-1 loss to the Washington Capitals.
It looked serious, and it could really impact the team's success.
At least the other bright spot of the Rangers' early season continues to shine, as Alexis Lafrenière scored his fourth goal of the season last night, marking his sixth point in as many games in 2026–2027.

The 24-year-old forward from Quebec is on fire and is currently averaging one point per game.
We'll be keeping a close eye on the rest of his season.
3. Already a sixth goal for Kyle Connor
The Winnipeg Jets are off to a strong start to the season, largely thanks to Kyle Connor, who, as usual, is scoring goals like it's second nature.
Last night, even though the Jets lost 5–1 to the Anaheim Ducks, Connor stood out with his sixth goal of the season—already a tie for the NHL lead with defenseman Evan Bouchard.
STAY HOT, KYLE CONNOR!

4. Judd Caulfield scores his first NHL goal
No, he's not Cole Caufield's brother.
Judd Caulfield is not related to the Montreal Canadiens forward—his last name has an extra “L” before the “F.”
This is an important detail to avoid confusing the two players, now that Caulfield has made it to the NHL with the Anaheim Ducks.
In fact, the 25-year-old forward recorded his first two career NHL points last night, including the game-winning goal against the Jets.
There's nothing quite like having your family in the building for your first career goal!
Welcome to the goal club, Judd Caulfield!
